The Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon conducts international cutting-edge research for a changing world: approximately 1,000 employees generate knowledge and innovation to facilitate more resilience and sustainability. Hereon’s scientific spectrum encompasses high-performance materials, processes and environmentally friendly technologies for mobility and new energy systems. Furthermore, research is conducted on biomaterials for medicine and for increasing the quality of life. Through research and consulting, Hereon addresses the challenges of climate change in a solution-oriented manner and facilitates sustainable management as well as the protection of the coasts and marine environment through comprehensive scientific understanding. The venue

The meeting venue is on our Hereon Campus near the town Geesthacht, on the terrain of the old dynamite factory Krümmel of Alfred Nobel . All talks and posters will be given in the lecture hall in building 27.

The data science symposium will be an in-presence event, we do not plan to stream it to the internet.

Arrival

By Car

Important information for users of satellite navigation:
Please note that some route planners lead to an incorrect route guidance if you follow the directions to "Max-Planck-Straße". For a correct navigation please use "Geesthacht / Grüner Jäger" as your destination.

Coming from Geesthacht:
Take the B5 to Lauenburg and follow the street another 300 meters then turn right into "Max-Planck-Straße".

Coming from Lauenburg:
Please follow the signs about 300 metres before reaching "Grüner Jäger".

By Public Transport

Whether from Hamburg main station or Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel airport: By public transport you can reach us via various routes.

If you are arriving by bus, please get off at the bus station Geesthacht, Helmholtz-Zentr. (Bibliothek).

Alternatively take the bus to the stop Tesperhude, Strandweg and walk about five minutes on foot to the south entrance, the turnstile in Reaktorstraße.

Please note:

Busses to Geesthacht, Helmholtz-Zentr. (Bibliothek) only arrive in the morning (the last one arrives at 09:46) and depart in the afternoon (the first one leaves at 14:21). Busses to Tesperhude Strandweg arrive and depart the entire day, but an member of the conference organization team has to let you in.

By Shuttle

There will be shuttles starting at Hamburg Bergedorf that bring you to the conference venue, and there will be shuttles that bring you back to Bergedorf.

Wednesday September 3rd (first day of the conference)

  • Shuttle from HH-Bergedorf S-Bahnhof to Hereon before the symposium starts
    • 10:30am (will be in time for the collaboration coffees)
    • 11:30am (will be in time for the first talks and the opening)

Thursday September 4th (second day of the conference)

  • Shuttle from HH-Bergedorf to Hereon before the symposium starts
    • 8:00
  • Shuttle from Hereon to Bergedorf after the Symposium ended
    • 12:00pm

Please note:

A place in a shuttle requires you to reserve it during the registration with the principle first come - first served. You will be informed by the organization team if your seat is available for you.
